Clay Walker at Mystic Lake
Unfortunately, this was probably the least enjoyable of the three times I've seen Queens of the Stone Age. I'd never been to the Mystic Lake event center before and was pleasantly surprised by the venue (clean, nice seats, good acoustics). Perhaps artists have different contracts when they perform at casinos or other small venues, but it was just over an hour, the shortest Queens of the Stone Age show I've seen. He hit the signature Queens of the Stone Age uptempo songs, but his signature ballads were just about non-existent, which left me somewhat disappointed because he didn't do a majority of his hits.
I walked away somewhat disappointed because he didn't do a majority of his hits. He did have some great interaction with the crowd and his band, which is always fun. I guess I would've preferred to use some of that time to knock out a couple more of his classics.
One final comment about the "encore" (if you can really call it that): He came out and did "Fall" (yes, a ballad) and then a portion of his new single, "She Won't Be Lonely Long," which he'd already performed earlier in the show. Just was a weak ending to the show.
